Alright, let’s talk about Fourth Wing. It’s one of those books that, on paper, probably shouldn’t work, but somehow it totally does? Like, the writing? Honestly, not great. I’m talking about cringey moments where I was low-key questioning the author’s choice of words. But here’s the kicker—the plot is SO good and the characters are chef’s kiss. The world-building? Yeah, it pulls you in, even when the writing’s tripping over itself a bit.
I really wish this book had a rewrite. If the writing was sharper, this could’ve been one of my all-time favorite series. But even with the flaws, the story and characters really kept me hooked. The pacing? A little all over the place at times, but that didn’t stop me from being totally invested in what was happening. The romance, the mystery, the stakes—everything was just so intriguing.
I heard they’re turning this into a show, and honestly? I’m kind of here for it. If they stick to the plot, I might actually say the show could be better than the book. And that’s a hot take, I know, but that’s how much the plot and characters stood out to me. If you’re big on flawless writing, maybe skip this one and wait for the show. But if you can look past that for a killer storyline, this book’s definitely worth it.
Oh, and my favorite quote from this book? It really hit me in the feels:
- “Even temples can be rebuilt, but books cannot be rewritten."
