⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amber V. Nicole is incapable of missing. This series has taken over my life, and The Dawn of the Cursed Queen is no exception. While it didn’t quite reach the heights of the first two books, it’s a necessary, masterfully written installment that sets the stage for what I hope will be an unforgettable conclusion.
This book is slower than its predecessors, but it doesn’t feel like a flaw—it feels intentional. The lore expands with every chapter, pulling you deeper into this world and uncovering layers you didn’t even know existed. Nicole’s ability to balance rich world-building with emotional storytelling is unparalleled, and this installment proves it.
We finally get to see the fallout of the massive betrayal in The Throne of Broken Gods from multiple perspectives. It adds depth to characters who previously felt like supporting players, making you root for them just as much as you do for Dianna and Samkiel. The shifting alliances, secrets revealed, and new questions formed make this book an emotional rollercoaster. And just when you think you’ve caught your breath, the ending hits with a plot twist so explosive it left me absolutely reeling.
Dianna and Samkiel remain the heart of this series. Their journey in this book is quieter but no less impactful. The moments they share—equal parts tension and tenderness—are laced with a cosmic inevitability that makes their connection feel like fate itself. Watching pieces of their story fall into place is as satisfying as it is heartbreaking.
Nicole’s prose is, as always, breathtaking. Every word feels deliberate, her characters pulse with life, and her world is so vividly imagined you feel like you’re living it. She doesn’t just tell a story; she makes you feel it in your bones.
And the quotes? They left me wrecked:
- “If he was the sun, by the old gods, she was the moon. Powerful, dark, and overbearing at times. She never left him, nor he her, as if they danced around each other for eternity.”
This one? The imagery, the inevitability of their bond—it’s stunning.
- “This was love. This was what it felt like. What it was supposed to feel like. I finally understood why others would go to war for it and clash or rage at its demise. I knew if I lost him and his love, the universe would quake at the mention of my name.”
The weight of this? The stakes of their love? Absolute perfection.
If you haven’t started the Gods & Monsters series, you’re missing out on one of the most extraordinary stories in fantasy romance. Amber V. Nicole has created something truly one of a kind. The Dawn of the Cursed Queen is another masterpiece in this saga, and I’ll be counting down the days until the next installment releases. This isn’t just a recommendation—it’s a demand. Read this series. You’ll thank me later.
