Review: The War of Two Queens

The War of Two Queens The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was absolutely badass from start to finish! Poppy really came into her own here, going full-on bad bitch, and it was so exciting to read. I was itching to start this one after finishing The Crown of Gilded Bones, but I took the advice to read the first Flesh and Fire book first, and it paired so beautifully with this story. The lore in this entire interconnected series is so rich and exciting, and I’m literally on the edge of my seat with every reveal and question.

The writing style is so vivid, especially during the battle scenes. They were super impactful; I could practically hear the clashing of steel and see the war unfolding right in front of me. This whole series has given me Game of Thrones vibes, but this book especially, and I am so here for it. I love this story so much and truly believe it’s essential reading for all romantasy lovers. I’ve been inhaling this series at an unhealthy rate, and I have absolutely no regrets. I’ll be jumping right into the next book as soon as I post this review!

Favorite quotes from this book:

-“Whether she ruled over all the lands and seas or was the Queen of nothing but a pile of ashes and bones she would - will - always be my Queen. Love is too weak an emotion to describe how she consumes me and what I feel for her. She is my everything.”

This quote is just breathtaking. It perfectly captures the depth of devotion and love between Poppy and Casteel. It's so powerful and romantic.

-“From blood and ash... we have risen!”

This line is such a powerful rallying cry! It’s such an iconic moment in the story and really signifies their strength and resilience.

-“To speak her name is to bring the stars from the skies and topple the mountains into the sea.”

This quote is so beautifully poetic and speaks to the immense power and influence that Poppy holds. It showcases just how significant she is within this world.

The War of Two Queens is an absolute must-read for fans of the From Blood and Ash series. It’s packed with action, romance, and incredible character development. If you’ve been enjoying the series so far, this book will definitely be a new favorite—it certainly is for me! I highly, highly recommend continuing this epic journey.
